How was Singapore sold to the British for 60,000 Spanish Dollars?

Find out about the man who did it, and the man who forced him to. No one remembers the sultans that used to rule, except us.

The old Royal Palace, the Sultan Mosque, the Tombs of the Malayan Princes: they all carry an air of royalty snatched away too quickly.

Uncover a curious blend of Malay folk traditions and Islam in the legends of the mysterious 'keris' (dagger), exotic perfumes, 'jamu' remedies to every conceivable ailment and the story of the faith that is so often misunderstood.

Join the guides who are experts in Singapore's rich heritage and colorful history.

Highlights on this walk include the Sultan Mosque, sarong tying, understanding traditional Indonesian medicine and Arabic goods, the Old Royal Palace and Royal Graveyard.

Reviews:

Here’s what previous walkers have to say about Sultans of Spice™

"I want to thank Savita for the fantastic walk (Sultans of Spice) on Thursday July 15th. I feel I gained valuable insite into the history of Singapore. The pace of the tour was great and the depth of knowledge that Savita has was evident....I have already passed on info to friends thinking of visiting Singapore, telling them they must try to join a walk."

- Clare Harrington from Australia

"Just wanted to chime in with the others and say that Savita is a great guide. My sister, husband, and I enjoyed last Thursday's Sultans of Spice tour. It was tons of fun despite the late morning downpour, and while we didn't have much time in Singapore, we definitely felt the experience worth it and in fact, would have loved to do all of the other tours had we stayed longer. I have raved about the Singapore Walks since taking Helena's Secrets of the Red Lantern last year, and this latest one has confirmed our belief that you guys are the best! Again, thanks for putting so much effort in your walks; we learned a lot and had much fun doing so. And Savita, thanks again for being so knowledgeable and good-humored during our tour!"
