The lantern beckoned him. The new ah ku was pretty, fresh from Canton. High on opium, he made his way unsteadily towards the gas-lit brothel.

In 1887, the brothels in Chinatown were as many and as close together as the teeth of a comb.

Combine that with the proliferation of opium and gambling dens, it was sin city.

It is no accident that Chinatown was also known as Bu Ye Tian – The Place of Nightless Days.

Discover vice and tragedy in the shadows of Chinatown by night.

We will venture into the fringes where entertainment, in its rawest form, is still practiced today. Tread with us as we go where many men have gone before!

Here’s what previous walkers have to say about Secrets of the Red Lantern™

"I had the great fortune to join Secrets of the Red Lantern walk with Geraldine, and it was amazing! Geraldine knew every secret story about Chinatown, and took us into places I never would have found on my own. She delivered her stories with a sense of mystery, spice, and humor. Our group members were anywhere from in their 20's to their 60's, and she kept us all entertained and hanging on her words. She was friendly, considerate, and all-around great! I would highly recommend these walks to anyone visiting Singapore. They are not to be missed!"

"Just a quick note to say thank you for the walking tours of both Little India Little India (Dhobis, Saris & a Spot of Curry™) and China Town (Secrets of the Red Lantern™). Both Marg and myself had a wonderful time during the tours, the knowledge and information that was provided by Geraldine during the tours was not only informative but was absolutely magnificent. We can't wait to return to Singapore to partake in further tours. It was also a great opportunity to meet a lot of other people from all different walks of life and from different countries."
